I discovered Nature’s Loft when I started my journey looking for a place to find balance in my life. My husband Jeff and I were riding around the Ozarks with a realtor looking at properties near the Buffalo River. I was raised in the Ozarks but moved away for college. A husband, demanding career, 5 children and 6 grand babies later I found myself longing for my first home. The search led me to this beautiful magical place.

The Hunt for Healing

The stress of everyday life and some personal changes had finally caught up with me and I was spiraling down into a place I did not want to be. I knew one way to help me heal and find balance was to find solitude, peace, beauty, and a place that felt like home. A place that took me away from everything that was familiar but at the same time rekindled what I knew to be familiar.

So off we go.

Traveling back roads and remote parts of the Buffalo River area looking for my happy place, I knew I would know if it was the perfect place the minute I stepped on the property and that is exactly what happened.

As we are driving down this beautiful remote narrow gravel road called Tomahawk Slab Rd, about 4 miles from Gilbert AR and The Buffalo River, we cross a creek.

I said to myself, “I wish I could find a place like this one.” Little did I know as we turned the corner I caught a glimpse of a for sale sign in the brush. I told the realtor to stop...

We drove up the drive, and there set an old run down shack and a double wide trailer. I stepped out of the car, and knew immediately I found where I needed to be. The energy of the place was such a breath of fresh air. I could feel myself decompressing and the feeling of peace was overwhelming.

My husband and I walked over the property and loved it. We wanted to put in an offer but got the sad news the property was under contract. I went home deflated, defeated, and hopeless. I put my search on hold for six months.

One Sunday morning a thought came to my mind to look at property in Searcy County. I pulled up a realtor website and the very first property showing was a new listing and it was the property I desperately wanted 6 months earlier. I was in disbelief.  I immediately called the realtor. She actually answered at 8 am on a Sunday morning. I put in an offer and we closed about a month later.

So began my journey

My husband and I started transforming the property into my happy place. We tore down the old shack. Turned the double wide into a precious little farm house. I was in love. I gulped in the peace, beauty, and magical healing power my happy place brought me. After a few months I had found my balance again.  Not long into my journey, I knew I wanted to share my happy place with others. 

So Nature's Loft was born.

Sharing This Special Place

The property, the creek, and the local area was food for my soul. As the saying goes, “Into the woods I go to lose my mind and find my soul.” That is exactly what I did. I invited my friend up to our place after I had finished the farm house.

When she arrived she was almost in tears. I asked her if she was ok and she said, “Oh Missy this place is beautiful”. She told me that she immediately felt it’s relaxing energy as soon as she turned off the highway. I knew my place was special but when it had such a positive affect on my friends and my family I knew I needed to share it.

I approached my husband with the idea of sharing our special place. I told him people need its healing power so Nature’s Loft was born . I had the perfect surroundings now I needed the prefect dwellings. I wanted my guests to have the ultimate comforts. Natures Loft was to be a retreat.

It was important that my guest had all the comforts of home with luxurious amenities. Nature’s Loft was a labor of love and it shows in each of our luxurious Tree Lofts. I truly believe Nature’s Loft was meant for me and for my guests.
